IT STARTS WITH STORAGE.
When cleaning and prepping our screens ready for their next use, we make sure to complete this job in bulk. This saves time, chemicals and money!
The minimum amount of screens that we will clean in one session is 20. If you want to follow our studio methods, I’d suggest finding yourself a good place to store your dirty screens until you have enough to clean in bulk. Following that, you will need a decent screen rack which can be left in your dark room while your screens dry flat after being coated.
TOP TIP!
If you need to remove sticky tape from your screens. Pile it up on top of some old newsprint, then screw it up and put it in your bin. Doing this will stop the tape from sticking to the sides of your bin and will make life a lot easier in the studio!
WHATS NEXT?
We remove our plastisol from the screens before putting them into the dip tank. This keeps the dip tank fresh and the chemicals will last even longer.
To remove the plastisol ink we use Franmar Plastisol Ink Remover. You can use our discount code – CRP5 – when purchasing from the Screen Print World website.
HOW DO YOU GET THE EMULSION OFF THE SCREENS?
We dip our screens into the Easiway dip tank and our tank is filled up with Easiway Supra which easily strips the emulsion from the screen (Discount code: CRP5). For more information on the best dip tank for screen printers, check out our video here :
COATING SCREENS FOR SCREEN PRINTING
Once we have cleaned all of our screens and they are dry from all water and chemicals, we coat our screens in bulk. We will coat a minimum of 20 screens at one time to save on time and emulsion. We use lots of different emulsions but our most popular choice is the Screen Sol QT which can be used with lots of different inks – discount code : CRP5
